SUMMARY:ACT - Sip of Science - 'Through Time'
DESCRIPTION:An archaeological interactive lecture that uncovers the hidden paths guided by professional archeologist\, Aaron Levinthal\, with nearly 30 years of experience\, most of which has included studies of people and places in Maryland and the greater Chesapeake Region. He is currently working on sites in Wicomico\, Worcester\, Anne Arundel\, and Washington counties but his real passion is for sites located on the Seaboard Side which were focused on the Coastal Bays. A graduate of Salisbury University he currently serves as the Maryland Park Service's archaeologist.\n\n\n\nThis journey uncovers how generations before us understood and described the world around them. The history of land use over 15\,000 years\, with stories woven throughout the Shore and written into the landscape.\n\n\n\nAs coastlines moved\, so did communities. As environments changed\, so did the language used to define them. Not just in what we see\, but in what has shifted\, settled\, and sometimes disappeared. From shorelines to changing waters and landscapes\, participants will explore how people have shaped the environment pre-contact and historic communities\, reminding us that the relationship between people and place has always been evolving. Let's explore what our mark is in history.\n\n\n\nTogether\, these experiences form something larger than a series.\n\n\n\nThey create a pathway\, and one that connects land\, water\, and life. One that invites us not just to learn\, but to participate. To observe\, to question\, and ultimately\, to care more deeply. Because when we begin to see how everything flows together\, we begin to understand.\n\n\n\nAnd that's where real stewardship begins!\n\n\n\nThursday\, May 28th \n\n5:30 PM- 8:00 PM\,\n\nLocation - Art Collective at the Factory - 16 S. Main Street\, Berlin MD.\n\nRegistration - $10.00 - https://www.actforbays.org/sip-and-science-series\n\n\n\nYour registration supports Assateague Coastal Trust's work to protect our coastal waters and ecosystems for generations to come.
